After nearly three decades of being closed, The Plaza Hotel in El Paso, Texas has reopened having gone through painstaking historical renovations. Originally built and opened by Conrad Hilton during the great depression, this art deco high-rise preserves the history while updating for modern amenities.
By working with photographs and newspapers, the design and hospitality teams kept true to many of the original elements in the hotel, including reopening the large atrium in the entry, original staircase railing in the lobby, and stained glass features.
These historic touches and luxury feel have even carried into the rooms. When we asked the Marketing Catering and Events Managers, Shanon Woodruff, about their selection of the Model One BT for their rooms, “When the hotel first opened in 1930, Conrad Hilton’s advertisements boasted radios in every room, which was quite the luxury at that time. We thought we’d have fun with this historical note, and we searched for the perfect audio system, landing on Tivoli Audio for its modern function combined with vintage style.”
If you find yourself in western Texas looking for a uniquely historic and luxurious stay, you can do no better than the Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park set in the heart of downtown El Paso.
